All summer, blue eyes made sense. They matched the sea in holiday photos, the pool on long weekends, and the bright light that lasted late into the evening. Then the season turned. The holidays are over, the first wedding invitations have arrived, and the clothes in your wardrobe are getting darker and warmer. Your eyes can follow them.
At Youmi Beauty, we believe your eyes should change with the season, just like your wardrobe, which is why our colored lenses range from the brightest blue to the warmest amber.
Warmer clothes, warmer eyes
Autumn clothes come in camel, chocolate, burgundy and olive. Gold jewelry comes out for weddings and family dinners. These are warm colors, and they look best next to warm eyes.
Bright blue is a cool color. With a white summer dress, or on a beach, it looks fresh. With a burgundy abaya and gold earrings, it can look separate from the rest of the outfit. An amber lens picks up the gold you are already wearing, so the whole look feels like one piece.
In Beirut, autumn arrives with cooler days and the first rain. In Dubai and Riyadh, it shows up later, in evenings that are pleasant enough to spend outside.
One pair a month
Youmi Beauty lenses are monthly. Every new pair is a chance to choose a new shade, so you do not have to change everything at once. You can move one step warmer each month, or go straight to amber if you are ready.
If your summer shade was La Mykonos, you are starting from our light blue. It is inspired by the sea around Mykonos and gives the eyes a soft blue light. Under strong summer sun, it shines. If you are not ready to let it go, keep it for evenings out in October and make your first move next month.
La Tulum
The first step away from bright blue is a deeper blue. La Tulum is our dark blue, inspired by the deep Caribbean water along the coast of Tulum. It keeps the blue you love with less brightness, so it sits more easily next to navy, black and darker autumn colors.
For many women, this step is enough. Youmi describes the finish as bold and natural, and it looks beautiful with a black or navy evening abaya. Keep your eye makeup soft, with a brown or gray shadow, and let the deeper color lead the look.
La Bali
Halfway between cool and warm sits La Bali. It blends brown with a touch of green, inspired by the tropical forests of Bali. On dark eyes, it reads as a warm green brown, which makes it an easy middle step between blue and amber.
We wrote about this shade in more detail in our guide to Green and Gold lens shades for Saudi National Day, where it was our pick for long family lunches.
La Ibiza and La Capri
This is where the season settles. La Ibiza is our caramel shade, inspired by the warm Mediterranean sun on the golden sand of Ibiza. It looks lovely with a burgundy dress, a camel abaya or gold jewelry at a wedding, and it matches all three at once.
La Capri is the softer amber. It is a rich golden brown with a warm, sunset feel, and it stays close to the natural color of dark eyes. If you want the warmth of the season without anyone guessing that you changed anything, La Capri is the shade to choose.
Every one of these shades also comes with power, from -0.5 to -8, so you can make the same move if you wear glasses.
A fresh pair, worn well
A new shade each month also means a fresh pair each month. When the new pair comes out, the old one goes.
Wedding nights are long, and our lenses are made to be worn for nine hours a day at most. If the evening matters most, put your lenses in late in the afternoon instead of first thing in the morning. Our guide to choosing an everyday lens shade for the office shows how to plan those nine hours around a full working day.
Before you put your lenses in, make sure your eyes feel hydrated. Keep your lenses away from heat. October is still warm across the Gulf, so never leave them in a parked car. Store them in fresh solution every night, change the solution daily, and replace an opened bottle after 90 days. And never sleep in them, however late the wedding ends.
The first cool evening
By the first cool evening of the season, your eyes can match the gold at your wrist. La Mykonos can wait for next summer.
