Wedding season is here, and the invitations come with questions. Which lens shade will look right in the photos? Will the lashes last until the end of the night? Clip-ins, or something that stays in for weeks? These are the questions that come up again and again before a wedding, so we gathered the most common ones in one place, with straight answers and the research behind them. Many wedding looks start with the eyes, and our colored lenses are where most of these questions begin.
Can I wear colored lenses from the ceremony to the last dance?
Youmi Beauty lenses are made to be worn for 9 hours a day at most. A wedding day that starts with getting ready at noon and ends after midnight can easily go past that. So choose the part of the day that matters most to you. If it is the evening, put your lenses in late in the afternoon instead of first thing in the morning.
Try a new shade at home a few days before the wedding, so the day itself holds no surprises. Make sure your eyes feel hydrated before you put your lenses in, and carry your lens case and a small bottle of lens solution in your bag. Take them out before you sleep, however late you get home. If you wear glasses, every shade also comes with power, from -0.5 to -8.
Which lens shade looks best in evening photos?
Start with your outfit and your jewelry. Warm shades like La Ibiza, a caramel, and La Capri, a rich golden brown, pick up gold jewelry and look soft under the warm lights of a wedding hall.
If you want your eyes to be the first thing people notice, the greens and blues stand out more at night. La Marrakech, our light green, and La Tulum, our dark blue, both make a strong statement. If you have never worn colored lenses, a warm brown is the easiest first choice, because the change looks natural even up close.
Will false lashes last all night without feeling heavy?
Weight matters more than most people think. In June 2025, a study of 499 women was published in Cureus. Of the 266 who had worn artificial lashes, the most common complaint was heavy eyelids, reported by 40 of them. Next came shadowing in their vision, then tearing and itching. How often and how long the women wore lashes was linked to these problems.
For a long wedding night, choose a lighter pair. Our Summer Lashes Collection has five natural pairs, from short to long and from thin to thick, and Youmi made them to be lightweight and comfortable. Use a clear, latex free lash glue, and put your colored lenses in before your lashes, so no glue comes near the lens.
Clip-ins, tape-ins or the YB Technique for a wedding?
It depends on how many events you have. For one wedding, clip-in extensions are the simplest choice. You put them in yourself in under five minutes on the day, and you take them out at the end of the night. La Coco, for example, is 100% human hair, with five wefts of about 27 inches.
For a season of weddings, engagements and family dinners, tape-ins or the YB Technique keep the length in place between events. A professional applies both. The YB Technique stays in day and night for months with proper care, while clip-ins come out every night. Our guide to the YB Technique compares the two side by side.
Can I curl my hair for the wedding?
Yes, but the temperature matters. In January 2026, a study in Biopolymers heated hair step by step. In air, chemically straightened hair began to break down at about 175°C. Untreated hair held until about 200°C.
Many styling tools can reach those temperatures. If your hair has been chemically straightened, choose a lower setting. Curl only dry hair, keep the iron moving, and never hold it on one section for long.
How do I keep my hair smooth at an outdoor wedding?
Humidity is the main problem. In 2025, a study in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science looked at how hair takes in water from the air. It found a shift at about 30 percent relative humidity. Above that point, the inner structure of the hair opens and takes in more water. A garden wedding in Dubai or an evening by the sea in Beirut can pass that point easily.
Start a few washes before the wedding with our Sublime Frizz Guard serum. Pour 20ml into your Made for Me shampoo or conditioner, shake well, and wash as usual. Its sorbitol attracts and holds moisture, and white water lily root extract keeps the strands smooth. Make sure your hair is completely dry before you leave the house, because damp hair picks up moisture from the air faster.
When should I exfoliate before the wedding?
Keep to your usual routine. Our body exfoliator, made with moringa, lavender, rosemary and aloe vera, is meant to be used 1 to 3 times a week. Apply it to damp skin, massage gently and rinse with warm water.
In the week before a wedding, it can be tempting to exfoliate every day for extra glow. Stay with 1 to 3 times. On the night before, a warm bath with our Himalayan Lavender Bath Salts is a softer way to relax.
You, me
Youmi was the nickname of our founder, Youmna Khoury. Said out loud, it sounds like “you, me,” and every answer here was written in that spirit. A quarter of Youmi Beauty sales goes to the Youmi Beauty Charity Foundation, which supports orphanages and charities for people with disabilities, so every wedding look you build with us helps someone else too.
